Scribus 1.3.8 release

A new Scribus is out! It is not version 1.4 but has some notable changes. Among them are a better import/export and some usability issues.

What a great day - I love release days :)

Go grab it!

Libre.fm

Music-Lovers: There is a great serivce called libre.fm! It is the free version of another well known music service. At last! It lets you share your listening habits and discover new music, with a clear focus on free music, free software and caring about your privacy.

Libre.fm has a great design now and helps you setting up your music player to work with the service by providing a list of supported players. It also features a new oggcast (ca. 20min) presenting great free music and informing you about the latest thing going on at libre.fm.

...truly free web-services just rock...

PublicSpacesLab

Surprised by the great releases at the publicspaceslab netlabel I am pleased to recommend high quality creative commons music again:

Digitube has a wonderful ambient style album that is too noisy to sleep but calm enough to enjoy it while working: "Sndtracks for Media / Soundtracks for Life".

Dustmotes is ONE other band that caught my attention, too. Try the The Containment Sessions album for a more beat oriented soundscape. It wades through retro samples in a modern way creating its own unique flavor.

All albums are cc by-nc-nd licenced and available as flac downloads.

Can it get any better than that? Free music in free formats. The best environment to work on a free software project! ;)

Relevance of freedom

I often hear people talking about freedom, GNU, the FSF and many reasons why being too "hardcore" or "negative" is counterproductive.

This is my point of view:

Synfig 0.62.01

There is a new Synfig release waiting for you: 0.62.01
