LGM 2010
Thu, 2010-02-25
Creative developers and users meet again. This year will be 27-30 May in Brussels! You can expect developers from all the well known free and creative software projects (like GIMP, Blender, Scribus and Inkscape), as well as lots and lots of interesting people and other interesting projects.
If you have the time to come by - do so! If you don't want to support the event with your presence maybe you consider a different way of support.
Unfortunately I can't attend the meeting and count on the good people that record all the talks.
Cloud - then what?

Rumor has it that the web has no future - but it IS the future. The FSF likes to think about cloud computing as a "nexus of confusion". But Jon Phillips spends some serious thought about the freedom of our future environment in his last LGM talk and comes to another conclusion (despite critical voices):
The web as an operating system is starting to become reality so we better start working on a free version of it now!
Fortunately there isn't just the pressure on fighting for freedom, there is also the huge possibility to finally boost collaboration and integrate more people in common efforts.
Blue Swerver
Sat, 2010-02-13
This unique english jazz-electro-pop-triphop band certainly deserves attention. Blue Swerver delivers a sincere and deep album with astonishing fresh and calm pieces at the same time. If you're into smooth vocals and like to be surrounded by some jazz ambience with modern influences try "The Art Of Collapsing"!
And while you're at it: share your download with anybody! The album is licensed under the creative commons by-nc-sa :D
Flattr
Fri, 2010-02-12
Flattr is a new simple payment method, advanced by former Piratebay people. The new idea:
- pay a fixed amount of money each month
- distribute the money by "clicking" on pages or content you like
- all receiving parties share equal parts of your monthly pay
This sounds like a promising approach to attract more people to use a CC license! The flattering flat rate is currently in beta, so keep an eye on it...
Morvena
Tue, 2010-02-09
There is a new anime project called "Morvena"! As you may have guessed it isn't an ordinary film project but similar to Blenders "Big Buck Bunny" or the current project "Sintel" (aka Durian project) it only uses free software like GIMP, Blender and Synfig Studio and will be released under the creative commons.
The chosen goal of the project is to create a full length anime version of a russian tale. The crew is probably interested in contributors - why not support the team with your skills?
I'm excited and curious already...
